Life is like a race; you either take the lead or fall behind. I really agree with this saying because the society is filled with competitions nowadays.
It was the time that I was in Grade 6. The main task for us, according to what our teachers said, was to study hard and get high marks. So we worked very hard and often competed with others.
Beside the endless competition, the life was filled with homework and teachers and parents’ high expectation. Most of my time sacrificed for study. I felt very tired. I had no choice but to do it. Day after day, I couldn’t bear any more, so I complained to my mum about the situation I was facing and tried to make her take pity on me in order to have more spare time to relax myself. But she only had a talk with me.
“You’re a Grade 6 student now. There‘s only one year left. How much you devote to you study decides the marks you’ll get next year. I know you do well in exams. But modesty helps one to make progress, and conceit makes one lag behind.”
I didn’t know how to fight against her because what she had said was really reasonable. Of course, the same as her, I was also anxiety about my study.
No pain, no gain. I got a high mark in the exam the following year. That meant I graduated from the primary school successfully and in the following two months, I could play freely and relax myself as often as I could.
Attitude decides everything. We should taste lots of bitter before enjoying the sweetness. And I believe this will be of some help to me in the future.

A sweet home, kind teachers and classmates… I never need to worry about money. To be honest, I am very lucky. However, I was still not satisfied sometimes. I could not realize what a good living condition my parents had offered me. Luckily, I realized this in time.
I was coming out of the supermarket with my mother. Then I heard a girl singing. She seemed two or three years older than me. The old uniform was very clean. Beside her, there was a board, saying’ my parents are all dead, I really need money.’
However. I did not pay too much attention. When I wanted to walk past her, my mother stopped, and said,’ I know this girl.’ ‘So?’ I asked back. But my mother kept saying,’ her parents died, and now she is living wither grandma. Sometimes I buy some vegetables at her grandma’s stand. Their life is so tough
that they cannot even pay for the stands in the market.’ I felt something was changing in my heart.
‘Her grandma is very proud of her, because she can always get high marks at school, what’s more, she is very filial. I guess her grandma does not know she is singing outside to earn money.’ My mother suddenly stopped, I knew she has the same feeling as me, I finally could not control myself at that time, I cried out,’ why is the god so unfair?’
I have a lot of happiness that the girl doesn’t have, but I do not know to cherish them. At that time, I freed myself,. I made myself grow up.
