Today, my dad’s friend’s son Michael came over to our house. Michael was 11 and is what you call a “nerd”. He wears big black rectangular glasses and always carries an electronic reading device in his pocket. He takes it out to read when he is bored. Michael has a “solid” body (no offense on him) and although he plays tennis every morning, he is no match for my running speed. Well, I think I should cut some slack on him for his big size. He lives in New Jersey, America. Michael only comes back to China when it is summer. We started to play the “Xbox” (a video game that requires fitness activities) and he quickly learned how to play it. We first played “wipeout”. Wipeout is actually a television show in America. Contestants have to go through different obstacles. If you fail, you fall into the water and probably get injured. If you run to the finish line successfully, you will be awarded with $50,000. I always look at it as a boring game show that entertains people. We watch the contestants get tortured and squashed into a human meatball that probably won’t taste very good. But you have no idea how fun it is when you play it on the Xbox. First, you don’t get crushed by all the obstacles or fall into the water when you don’t make it. It will be a real problem if you play it in the ACTUAL show. You could get physical damage and wake up sore in the morning. Second, you get extra chances. In the real show, you fall into the water and there will be a big “GAME OVER” for you and you go home. In the game, you fall into the water and the game will give you at least two chances to try the round again. Michael and I had a blast playing Wipeout. We kept giggling at the hilarious postures our avatars make when the avatar falls (getting bonked in the butt by the smasher and twirling like a ballerina when the big balls bounce our avatars in the water) .

After we got tired of playing ”wipeout”, we decided to change the game to “sports season 1”. There were lots of sports and we started on track and field. I always won the first place in running and Michael was excellent at throw the discus or the javelin. Shortly after we played track and field, we started playing beach volleyball. We decided to be a team and encouraged ourselves to win the champion race. Amateur and professional were easy. Champion was a little difficult, but we managed to get through .On the last strike, Michael served the ball and I jumped and hit a power ball. That left our opponents sprawling on the ground and the volleyball buried in the sand. Michael and I hit our hands for a high-five. The afternoon went quickly as we each tried to beat the champion on different sports. At last, we were drenched with sweat, but felt very, very happy.
