Sunday, May 13, we went to the gym. It was raining the whole time so we had to do some inside activities and get some exercise at the same time.
My mom was running on the treadmill while I was watching the television in the kid’s room. Flipping through the channels wasn’t so fun when something caught my eye in the cooking network. It was the Chopped All-stars show. My mom had told me about this show were chefs used these random ingredients to cook something tasty, pretty, and creative in twenty minutes. The winner gets fifty-thousand bucks for the charity.
The competitors were: Michael Symon, Penny Davidi, Marcus Samuelson, and Jeffrey saad. There were three rounds: Appetizer, Main Dish, and Dessert. The First round was pretty tough. The chefs had to use Chinese Okra, Beef Heart, and pistachios to make a dish. Judges decide for each round who gets chopped. That means who gets to be out. The first round was obvious who was going to get chopped. Michael Symon got chopped because time ran out and he forgot to put the fried okras he made on the plate. And missing ingredient was a big deal in the show. For every round the three judges make comments on the chef’s dishes. One of the judges said that Jeffrey’s presentation of his dish wasn’t good. Jeffrey made noodles and there were pieces of the ingredients on the side of the plate. They said that Marcus’s dish was awesome with the broth but the dish should be a little more crunchier. The second round Penny got chopped because of the cod. Penny did not know that the cod’s skin was not edible. Jeffrey did not know about the cod’s skin but at least his dish was better then Penny’s dish. Marcus knew about the fish skin so he took the skin off after cooking. It was Finally the last round. Marcus was going against Jeffrey. I think they had to use cream and other ingredients that I couldn’t remember. The Judges had a tough decision until they chose Marcus as the winner. Jeffrey tried to make ice cream out of cream but the freezing machine wasn’t working so he had some trouble.Jeffrey also had trouble when the baking took forever. Even though Marcus used chocalate which wasn’t a ingredient he was suppose to use the judges said his dish tasted great and it was a good food combination. Marcus was so happy at the end he jumped in the air and yelled “yes!” This was the best cooking show I ever watched!
